چکیده

Several indices have been used in the past for the assessment of the performance of water distribution systems. In this paper the performance of water distribution systems is evaluated using the resilience index and the failure index proposed by Todini (2000). The method is demonstrated through the analysis of a real world application, the water distribution system of the town of Sofades in Central Thessaly. The water distribution system is analysed using the software package EPANET 2. It is deduced that using the resilience index, which is related indirectly to system reliability, several scenarios for improving the performance of the system can be assessed.

Reliability assessment of power distribution systems using disjoint path-set algorithm

Finding the reliability expression of different substation configurations can help design a distribution system with the best overall reliability. This paper presents a computerized a nd implemented algorithm, based on Disjoint Sum of Product (DSOP) algorithm. The algorithm was synthesized and applied for the first time to the determination of reliability expression of a substation to determine...

Characterizing Drought Using the Reliability-Resilience-Vulnerability Concept

This study borrows the measures developed for the operation of water resources systems as a means of characterizing droughts in a given region. It is argued that the common approach of assessing drought using a univariate measure (severity or reliability) is inadequate as decision makers need assessment of the other facets considered here. It is proposed that the joint distribution of reliabili...

A hybrid framework for assessing socioeconomic drought: Linking climate variability, local resilience, and demand

Socioeconomic drought broadly refers to conditions whereby the water supply cannot satisfy the demand. Most previous studies describe droughts based on large-scale meteorological/hydrologic conditions, ignoring the demand and local resilience to cope with climate variability. Reservoirs provide resilience against climatic extremes and play a key role in water supply and demand management. Here ...

Reliability Assessment of Distribution Systems in Presence of Microgrids Considering Uncertainty in Generation and Load Demand

The microgrid concept provides attractive solutions for reliability enhancement of power distribution systems. Normally, microgrids contain renewable-energy-based Distributed Generation (DG) units, which their output power varies with different environmental conditions. In addition, load demand usually changes with factors such as hourly and seasonal customer activities. Hence, these issues hav...

Investigating Impacts of Sustainable Repair Time and Circuit Breaker Model on Meshed Distribution Networks Reliability Assessment

Generally, the failure rate and the repair time of system components are constant parameters in reliability assessment of electric distribution systems. A failure of component is resulted from failing in the operation or overloading. In addition, there exist cases where, the repair times of components are small and tolerable from customer point of view. Thus, tolerable repair times may be overl...
